Melissa Sanders is a wanted woman because of two overdue books.

Melissa, who works as a security guard in Michigan, learned she was a wanted woman when she applied for a promotion at work. Her company conducted a routine background check and that is when her boss called her in and she was suspended

“He told me he had a warrant for my arrest and I laughed because I thought it was funny. He said, ‘This is not a joke, this is serious,’” she told Inside Edition. "I have never been in trouble before."

She was accused of failing to return “Where the Sidewalk Ends” by Shel Silverstein and Elie Wiesel's “Night” trilogy.

“I tried to go to the library to pay the fine but they wouldn't accept my money. They told me I had to go to this Economic Crime Unit and pay them and they wouldn't accept my money,” she claimed.

With penalties the fine is now over $500 and the mom of five is trying to get her named cleared.
