Strapped to his tandem instructor, Timothy Goodwin jumped out of a plane in order to reveal the sex of his new baby.
"All our friends asked, you know, ‘Why you going so far out?’ I said if I’m gonna do it, I'm gonna do it right and do it big, you know?" Goodwin told InsideEdition.com.
At first, his fiancee, Angela Hewett, wasn't completely on board with the stunt.
"Off the gate she was not happy about it, you know. Of course, us being pregnant, she needs me there. She's very nervous about it," Goodwin said. "We went up to [Skydive Coastal Carolinas, the company Goodwin jumped with] and they showed us all the safety procedures they go through and made us a little more comfortable about it."
It was Goodwin’s first time skydiving.
Soaring high above North Carolina, Goodwin had no idea what the baby’s sex was.
Skydive Coastal Carolinas received a sonogram revealing what the couple would have and selected the color based on it.
Goodwin landed in a plume of pink smoke — he and his family were surprised to learn they'll be having a girl.
“I didn't have a preference either way, I was just happy to have a baby and girl that is healthy, and I think it's awesome it's a girl."
Goodwin has two other kids and admits there was no such elaborate gender reveal done for them. Might they be offended they didn’t get such a production?
"Nah. They loved it, especially Macy, the little girl she was, she was real excited about it," he said.
If the couple has another baby, they'll have to think of a way to top themselves.
"I don't know. We'll have to figure out something right, something big to top it off."
