Thousands of cheering fans are the first to march into Disneyland’s new “Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge” attraction.

The park's expansion promises to transport visitors to a galaxy far, far away. And at 14 acres, "Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge" is the largest and most technically advanced single theme park expansion ever at Disneyland in California.

Fans lined up before dawn and headed straight to the highly anticipated Millennium Falcon ride on opening day. The ride is interactive, so guests use controls to either pilot the ship, use blasters to defend the craft or keep the ship running smoothly as flight engineers. It’s just like flying the famous spacecraft piloted by Han Solo and Chewbacca.

There are “Star Wars” delicacies on planet Batuu, like a sausage wrap that can be washed down with blue milk

There is even a marketplace where patrons can purchase the fashion of a galaxy far, far away.

Ric Turner is a production designer and explained how Disneyland is handling the increased crowds.

“We want to make sure everyone has a great time at Galaxy Edge,” he said. “Until June 23, you need a reservation to get in or guests at Disneyland Hotel can come in.”
