DNA of Missing Mom's Husband Found on Faucet of Home Where She Disappeared: Prosecutors

Playing DNA of Missing Mom’s Husband Found on Faucet With Her Blood: Prosecutors

The lawyer for the estranged husband of missing Connecticut mom Jennifer Dulos said in court that it was "ludicrous" to suggest his client had anything to do with his wife's disappearance.

Defense attorney Norm Pattis vehemently argued in court Tuesday for the bond of Fotis Dulos, 51, to be lowered to $100,000. Fotis is charged with tampering with evidence and hindering prosecution. On Tuesday, he pleaded not guilty.

"There still is no body and there is no confirmation that Jennifer is in fact dead," Pattis said. "... There is no body that I'm aware of and I'm sick and tired of hearing about it."

But prosecutors revealed a new detail in the case: that Fotis' DNA was found mixed with Jennifer's blood, recovered from a faucet in her home. They asked the judge to increase Fotis' bond to $850,000 given the new evidence.

However, the judge denied both requests and kept the bail at $500,000, which Fotis later posted. As part of posting bail, Fotis was ordered to wear an electronic monitoring device and told to stay within 15 miles of his home. His passports were also taken.

Fotis' girlfriend, 44-year-old Michelle Troconis, faces the same charges Fotis faces and has also pleaded not guilty. She was previously released on bail and has reportedly met with investigators at least twice, though she claims to have no idea where Jennifer is, according to the Stamford Advocate.

Authorities said Fotis was captured on surveillance footage dumping garbage bags and other items at 30 different locations along a 4-mile route. Video showed he was accompanied by a woman who appears to resemble Troconis.

The drive was captured at several points on surveillance video, but officials are hoping other local residences and businesses may have caught more footage. Some of the items recovered by police have Jennifer's blood on them, leading them to believe that she is likely dead, though her remains have yet to be located.

Police have set up a website for help finding Jennifer. They said members of the public have submitted dozens of videos following the plea for assistance and authorities are combing through them now.

Jennifer, 50, was last seen on May 24. She dropped her kids off at school but then didn’t show up for multiple appointments she had that day, the New Canaan Police Department said. Her car was later located in town, though the mother was nowhere near it.

Fotis and Jennifer have been involved in a bitter divorce for the past two years. Their five children, who range in age from 8 to 13, are all currently staying with Jennifer's mother.

In court papers, Jennifer referred to Troconis as her husband's "paramour" and claimed he wanted her to move into the "marital home."

"When I disagreed, he became enraged," she claimed in the papers.

She also told a judge she feared her estranged husband would kidnap her children or kill her. Fotis refuted her allegations, saying there is "no reason" for Jennifer or anyone else to fear he "will harm her in any way."
