CNN's Jim Acosta Worried His Career Was Over When His Press Credentials Were Revoked

Playing David Letterman Calls President Donald Trump ‘Psychotic’

The subject of many of President Trump’s contentious interactions has penned a new book about reporting on the current White House administration.

CNN's Jim Acosta written the book, “The Enemy of the People,” inspired by the same description President Trump uses to label the press.

"My goodness, reporters should not need bodyguards to go cover Trump rallies and that is the kind of environment we are in right now," Acosta told Inside Edition's Senior Correspondent Les Trent.

Acosta, who famously had his press credentials taken from him for a short time, said that he was worried for his career and added that there are still time where he feels unsafe.

As for the "fake news" label the president has given to CNN, Acosta stands by his company.

While Trump likes to gripe about many in the press and media, one individual is now taking aim at the president.

Donald Trump appeared on “The Late Show With David Letterman” 30 times and Letterman never let him off easy, but he really unloaded on the president in a new podcast for The Hollywood Reporter.

"He used to be kind of like the boob of New York that pretended to be wealthy, or we thought was wealthy, and now he's just a psychotic. Is that putting too fine a point on it?" Letterman said. "I don't even care if it's recorded, I would just like to talk to the guy, because, as I said before, he knows me, I know him — what the hell went wrong?!"

Letterman said that he believes Trump liked being on TV, which is why he appeared on his show so much.

“I had no sense that he was the soulless bastard that he's turned into,” he added.
